Tom White is a professional photographer who specialises in wildlife, nature and landscape photography. He lives on the outskirts of the Northumberland National Park in Northern England. As a keen climber and mountain walker, Tom is a full team member of the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team. This involves searching for missing and injured people in very remote areas.
"I developed an interest in photography at the age of 7 when I borrowed my parents Nikon camera. I started by photographing the patterns in the landscape, the way the snow lay in the depressions of the ridge and furrow on the land."
Tom started with a Nikon F90 and a Sigma lens. Then progressed to a Bronica GS1 mk2 medium format camera which gave superb detail. A natural progression from this is the digital technology and is now using a Nikon D200, Nikkor 17-55 AF-S IF ED F2.8, Nikkor ED 70-200 AF-S VR F2.8 G. "I find this camera so much easier to use for wildlife than conventional film, but I use different medium to fit the subject matter".
